As Director of Governmental Affairs Aaron Fanwick oversees the company’s real estate Government relations strategies, focused on initiating ground-up development projects, both market-rate and affordable housing. This includes identifying opportunities and building relationships with municipalities and government officials.
Mr. Fanwick brings extensive experience from his legal background and both the public and private sectors. Before joining Waterford Mr. Fanwick worked as the Director of Intergovernmental affairs, legislation, and advocacy for the Office of Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang – where he led property tax legislation and rulemaking for the office and the California Assessors’ Association. Previously, Mr. Fanwick worked on Capitol Hill for Sen. Carl Levins, Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations investigating fraud and tax policy and practices. Before moving to Los Angeles, Mr. Fanwick spent 3 years with the United States Department of Justice litigating Civil Fraud claims against mortgage lenders and underwriters. Mr. Fanwick’s unique background and skillset bring a valuable perspective and understanding of the legal, policy and political landscape to the Waterford team.
